Anorex-SR (phendimetrazine ) is similar to an amphetamine. Phendimetrazine stimulates the central nervous system (nerves and brain), which increases your heart rate and blood pressure and decreases your appetite.

How the interaction occurs:
Sympathomimetics can increase blood pressure and heart rate, which can increase the ability of anesthetics to change the rhythm of the heart.
What might happen:
You may develop an irregular heartbeat.
What you should do about this interaction:
These medicines are used during surgical procedures or in a hospital. If you are to have either inpatient or outpatient surgery, or are to be admitted to the hospital, make sure that all the healthcare professionals are aware of all the different medicines that you are taking. This includes prescription medicines, herbal drugs, and nutraceuticals.Your healthcare professionals may already be aware of this interaction and may be monitoring you for it. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with them first.
You should not use this medication if you are allergic to phendimetrazine, or if you have:
- a history of heart disease (coronary artery disease, heart rhythm problems, congestive heart failure, pulmonary hypertension);
- heart murmur or heart valve disorder;
- severe or uncontrolled high blood pressure;
- overactive thyroid;
- severe agitation or nervousness;
To make sure you can safely take phendimetrazine, tell your doctor if you have any of these other conditions:
- high blood pressure;
- kidney disease;
- an anxiety disorder;
- epilepsy or seizure disorder; or
- if you have used other diet pills in the past year (prescription, over-the-counter, or herbal products).
