Tranxene (clorazepate) 10 mg 3 Boxes
Tranxene (clorazepate) 10 mg is a benzodiazepine. It is used to treat anxiety. It also used to treat alcohol withdrawal and certain types of seizures.
Drugs of Anxiety, Hyperemotivity, and Stress Situations. The most used are benzodiazepines which have 5 properties:
– muscle relaxants,
– sedative action at high dose,
They belong to the group of psycholeptics or psychic sedatives (which diminish the mental activity).
Benzodiazepines account for half of the available tranquilizers. We distinguish :
– Benzodiazepines (VALIUM, TRANXENE, TEMESTA …)
– The other families:
Î Carbamates (EQUANIL)
Î Piperazines (ATARAX)
– Miscellaneous (BUSPAR).
Action mechanism :
Benzodiazepines bind to the specific receptors of GABA (gammaaminobutyric acid), the neurotransmitter responsible for the mechanisms of inhibition of S.N.C., which explains the myorelaxant and anticonvulsant properties. Their anxiolytic and hypnotic effects depend rather on the frenetic action of catecholamines and serotonin. Buspirone acts primarily as a 5-HT1 receptor agonist to serotonin.
